Our story began with Dave McKie, a lifelong Waikato farmer with a natural skill for getting things done right. What started as a few side jobs in earthworks quickly grew into steady work across the region. His son Reece McKie carried that passion forward, climbing into a digger at just 12 years old and mastering the art of excavation like he was born to it. While others were feeding out hay, Reece was shaping paddocks, levelling sites, and proving he had a natural talent for machinery.

Under Reece’s leadership, MCL has grown from a one machine side gig into a trusted name in earthworks and excavation across Waikato and Auckland. With Ash and Carmel supporting the operation behind the scenes, MCL remains proudly family run and that is exactly how we like it.
