OUR STORY
MCL was built on the backbone of hard work, family values, and a deep love for machinery.
It all started with Dave McKie, a lifelong dairy farmer in the Waikato who always had a knack for getting things done right. What began as a few earthworks jobs on the side quickly turned into a steady stream of work. Drainage, driveway prep, small dig-outs, if it needed digging, Dave was your guy. Word spread fast, and before long, the McKies weren’t just farming cattle, they were now moving earth.
But it was Reece McKie, Dave’s son, who really brought MCL to life. Reece has been in a digger since he was 12 years old, literally. While others were feeding out hay, Reece was levelling paddocks and operating machinery like he was born to do it. He never had a passion for farming, but give the guy a machine and a bit of mud, and he’s in his element.
As Reece took over the business, MCL started to grow, evolving from a one-machine side gig into a trusted name in earthworks across the Waikato and Auckland regions. With Ash and Carmel supporting the operation behind the scenes, MCL remains proudly family run, “and that’s exactly how we like it”
